Glad to hear that your modem is working data wise pretty well now. How is it
doing sending faxes?
As for &H1, I would keep it in the init string. Some comm programs change the
modem's active profile and it they change it to &H2, then you could have some
problems with handshaking. I say keep it in there for good measure.
Well, you could test the cable lines to see if you have a hardware handshaking
cable. Or you could ask the people you bought the cable from. They're are
three general categories on modem cables. 1) Standard Hayes cable – your normal
type 2) Hardware handshaking cable (7-wire or straight through) – has wiring to
control the RTS/CTS lines need for hardware handshaking 3) Null modem cable –
changes the transmit and receive positions on the cable between connectors.
Okay for connecting two computers through serial ports, but not good for
modems.
