Hello Arturo-
My wife and I spent some time yesterday looking closely again at the
photographs in the Rizzoli book of Antonio Lopez Garcia's work. The texture
covering the figures is very interesting and very unwood like. In a few places
it appears to me that the figures must be covered with thick gesso or plaster
that has been smoothed and refined in the manner of antique religious statuary
and ornate decorative frames. Lopez is one of my wife's favorite artists too.
