>> Do you know whether the problem you're having is unique to your camera or it's a model-wide problem? I don't really know. I first thought I had a problem just with this individual camera, and took it in for repair. I included a test tape I shot in my studio that compared the same scene (with bright red object on white background) from a Canon A1MKII, Canon L2 and Sony EVW-300. As expected, the EVW-300 was the best image. Being 3-chip and professional, it had better be, or I would have been rather unhappy with _that_ camera. However, I expected that the L2 would be better (or at least no worse) than the A1MII, which is an older and cheaper Canon. Instead, the L2 was _much_ worse bloom. So bad that reviewing any tape with a Caucasian's skin will show a slight glow to the right of the skin. One person (in a vacation video from Galapagos Islands last November) had a sunburn — and _that_ skin bloomed so bad you couldn't miss it if you were blind! Well, anyway, the shop reported that everything was in spec and that there was nothing they could do about it. Further, they said that Canon would not pay for the inspection since there was nothing found (it is under warrenty yet). I threw a fit and they let me out without paying to be told I have a lemon, but I'm not exactly happy with the situation. I plan on talking to the Canon folks tomorrow at NAB and see if they can give me any info on the problem. I may have to chuck it and buy a second EVW-300, but my wife wouldn't be happy about yet another $5500 of outflow at this point… – Burt >> P.S.
