>>I'm currently running a (Daystar 040-40mhz with a 128 cache) >>…what kind of trade-in could I expect from it, if I >>purchase a (Turbo 601 -100mhz) card for my IIci? To trade in the 40 MHz Turbo 040 to the 100 MHz Turbo 601, your upgrade cost is $816. >>And what do I need to do to get the ball rolling on this? Download the Universal Upgrade form from our forum here on CompuServe (MACAVEN, Section 6, Software Library). Fill it out, and fax it to our Upgrade Department (404-967-3018). >>I also have a (Radius/SuperMac Thunder 24 bit video card) >>….will it operate correctly with the 601-100mhz? >>New ROM? You will have to contact Radius for a possible firmware update. For SuperMac products, you will need ROM versio v3.0 or higher. >>And System Software? I'm currently running 7.5… You have what you need as far as System software requirements. You will need to re-install the System for any Macintosh. >>I'm currenly using (20-megs of Ram) >>….will I need more for Power Mac applications? Check with each software vendor as to what they require and suggests for PowerMac native appliations. PowerPC software does require more memory, but for everyday work, 20 MB should be enough. If your needs exceed "everyday use", then may need to purchase more memory, but that depends upon your use. For example, Photoshop v3.0 needs 3-5x the file size allocated to it in order to work efficiently. Hope that this helps. Thanks for your continued interest in DayStar products.
