The LT version is a very good way to check Imagine out as it is very powerful as a "demo". The only thing I really missed were the procedural textures that the LT version was missing. You can make do and accomplish much with LT, though. I think there might have been a couple of minor things that didn't work in LT (such as an interior particles option, although particles worked as a whole) but it is most certainly worth the $100 bucks to try it.
