Michael,
Last time I checked, the world size in Imagine was 16,000 units for
ray-tracing and 32,000 in scanline. 'Trouble is, I can't remember whether
that's 16,000 units in any direction, or 16,000 in size (namely 8000 units in
any direction). Scanline is supposed to be theoretically of unlimited sized,
but Imagine starts to choke if you go out more that 32,000 units from the world
origin. And the zoom and scroll won't let you get much farther out than that
either.
On the other hand, don't get overzealous and compress you geometry down
too small, because then you'll be cramming too many polygons into an Octree,
and rendering speed will begin to suffer.
