The big advantages that Commodore has over CD-I is that *anybody* can make a CDTV disk as long as he has an Amiga. The same can't be said for CD-I. In addition, if CBM licensed the CDTV format to stero companies to enlarge the hardware base, and built general purpose cd-rom players for Amigas that can play CDTV, they would have a good general package. In addition, by licensing the technology to third parties, CBM puts itself in a position of market leader immediately. A good example for this is the clone market. Because of IBM clones, IBM, Microsoft, and all the various clone companies have done spectacularly, chiefly because of computer companies copying IBM in the early 80's. John
