I've been following your efforts for a freeware VR animation system; they're very nice. Our InterChange Plus system of 3D translators does only polygonal objects at this time. We do have a DXF Converter for it, but it doesn't handle the polymeshes yet, although it does a lot of other entities, like elevation and thickness, and variable approximation of arcs and circles. And another item up your alley: it's kinda secret at this point, :-), but we're working on a CD-ROM of graphics-related stuff. It will be called the "Syndesis 3D-ROM," or at least until I find out that name is already taken. We've already assembled dozens of megabytes of public domain 3D objects in various forms. We're converting them to N different formats, to highlight the translation abilities of our software, and all formats will be present on disc. So far, this means 3D Studio .3DS, AutoCAD DXF, LightWave, Imagine TDDD, and maybe a few others. Plus we're assembling other data, like texture maps, bump maps, etc. So, graphics mavens, I'd hoped I could somehow aim this disc at all those people who tinker with the freeware ray-tracers, modelers, animation and VR programs, like the ones featured in this forum. What sorts of files would make this disc interesting to you? And being afficianados of all those freeware programs, I know what price-point you'd like. 🙂 Read action !
