Actually, the choppy video I was referring to earlier was what you've explained as the previously rendered frames. I guess I've been spoiled by looking at other (although less detailed) animations from other games that smoothly animate on this machine. The digitized scenes animate very smoothly, though and I've yet to experience any speech breakup with the ghosts so maybe I really shouldn't complain! I've tried playing with the read-ahead on Speedcache and got some pretty interesting results. At 63k read-ahead (the highest setting) the movement scenes would "lurch" After getting some scenes in the buffer it would animate very nicely but there's still a tradeoff. I've found that setting everything back to defaults seems to be the best way to go. Thanks, Norm
