Tony, Do you mean: CDR101: No ready reading drive Z? when you try a DIR? As far as I can see this is the same thing as the "Drive not ready" you get if you DIR A: without a floppy. (BTW, 4DOS simply says "CD-ROM not ready"). When you power on does the activity light blip? (if so, you got power). Put a CD in the drive, label facing you. Boot the system and after the CDR101 message open the drive. Has the CD revolved? A friend of mine had the sort of problem you're seeing and it was a faulty motor. To try to eliminate hardware conflicts try using the software-polled driver, not the interrupt driven one, ie. device=mtmcds.sys /p:300 if you've changed the card's address change the 300 appropriately. If you do this and you still get the message you almost certainly have a dead drive or card. Hope this gives you an idea to help you get going, Robin
