Can anyone tell me what a CDR101 error message is? I've been trying to install my drive and drivers and all I can get to is this error message. The Drive is a mitsumi LU0005S. I think I'm having trouble with the IRQ setup on my computer. I've pulled every card including the I/O card leaving nothing but the drive controller and vidio card and I still can't get it to work. It's not helping that I can't find the documentation to any of my stuff as I have just moved AND got married so my life is in cardboard boxes 🙂 HELP! -Tony

Tony — Try a re-install first — you may have a corrupt file. The defaults "should" work OK for you, but you may want to try software polling to get around possible conflicts. Let us know how things are going! Craig

I've wiped everything from my hard disk and dumped the autoexec and config files and pulled every card execept the vidio and drive controler. If I could just find out what that error message says I might have a clue.-Tony

Tony — Give Mitsumi a call (408) 970-0700 — ask for Jay — he may be able to give you some help. Craig

Tony, Do you mean: CDR101: No ready reading drive Z? when you try a DIR? As far as I can see this is the same thing as the "Drive not ready" you get if you DIR A: without a floppy. (BTW, 4DOS simply says "CD-ROM not ready"). When you power on does the activity light blip? (if so, you got power). Put a CD in the drive, label facing you. Boot the system and after the CDR101 message open the drive. Has the CD revolved? A friend of mine had the sort of problem you're seeing and it was a faulty motor. To try to eliminate hardware conflicts try using the software-polled driver, not the interrupt driven one, ie. device=mtmcds.sys /p:300 if you've changed the card's address change the 300 appropriately. If you do this and you still get the message you almost certainly have a dead drive or card. Hope this gives you an idea to help you get going, Robin

I don't get a light at the time a read is attempted and I already did a quick and dirty attempt to see if the disk is turning by indexing the label in the drive, attemting a read and then opening the case…..the label is always in the same place. I got my hands on a hardware checking program and I'm almost 100% sure that I have no hardware conflict now. Thanks for the help.-Tony
