Shawn, A good deal of what appears to be loss isn't. It is in the "spare sectors Map". SCSI drives self-test themselves (or can, anyway) and will eithre "slip sectore" or remap using a jump table any sectore detected as bad to one taken from the spares list. So, while you may not have direct access to it, most of the difference is there for your indirect use. And the larger the dirve, the bigger the "loss". BTW, with GVP FaaastPrep A 540 came up first time, no trouble. I think MacroSystems may be blowing a little smoke. Also, if you call Quantum, their tech support is generally pretty good. If you have a ROM problem on the controller they generally replace them for free (that is they will send yuo the ROM to do the replacement for free…). wmc – via Autopilot!
