Geir, Does Photoshop give you real-time previews of every effect, in any display mode? Pardon my inexperience, but I had the feeling that Photoshop would only preview certain effects, such as Saturation, when in 256-color indexed display mode. The reson is simple: Photoshop only needs to update the 256 colors in the palette, rather than compute the change on the potentially multi-megabyte image being processed. Imagemaster can't do this, because it can't rely on there being a 256-color indexed display active at the moment. Imagemaster owners run the program on true 24-bit displays, AGA HAM-8 displays and the lust goes on. From what I've been led to believe, Photoshop offers previews in certain situations when it's computationally trivial to do so. Is this true? If not, please enlighten me, as I'm a big Photoshop fan, but have no access to the program at home or at work. By the way, to preview an effect in Imagemaster, just clip out a representative sample of your main image, and try out the effect on _that_. Effects will be computed quickly, you can press <u> to undo the change and <a> to bring up the effect's control panel again, where you can alter the parameters and try again. True, it's not a real-time preview, but it allows relatively painless experimentation. Blaq!
