Gene, Thanks for your help. I finally got the cubes to render with reflective surfaces. I thought 3D studio was a lot smarter that this. It does'nt make sense that it can only apply automatic reflections to seperated detached faces. It is smart enough to create six reflection maps with the RENDER/SETUP/MAKE.CUB. One would think that 3D Studio could apply this to a simple cube. 3D Studio does not seem to create an accurate reflection map when a shadow in the adjacent cube should appear in the reflection. I would hate to think of what 3D Studio would do with a reflection of a reflection of a reflection. I'm very interested that you know Steve Oles. You might be familiar with his Cubes and the value delineation system. This cube excercise has taught me a little of what 3D Studio can and cannot do. I have discussed with Steve and friends about creating more dialogue between traditional hand architectural renderers and computer renders. I think both group could learn from each other.
