Terry,
>>JUST got off the phone with Murph (he said he was going to call you when we
hung up BTW) and he said that the PVR card, as opposed to the PAR card requires
no targa card to do what the PAR did with it. <<
He must of got busy, I have not heard from him yet. If I understand what you
are saying, a Targa can provide some features that the PAR does not. Not so for
the PVR.
>>If your trying to decide whether to get the PAR or the PVR I highly recommend
the PVR. It's the same price as the PAR and does a whole lot more.<<
I'm only trying to plan for it now while I'm looking to buy a system. I was
figuring that several PARs would become available used after the PVR comes out.
I'm hoping the PAR will do all that I need.
>>I see you tag "Technical Animations" to your name. Are you an operating
animation business, or just getting started like me?<<
I've been doing forensic animations for 3.5 years now, so in some ways I'm just
getting started.
>>What type of workstation are you looking at buying? PC platform? Dual CPU?<<
I thought about the dual Pentium, but figured by the time I got around to the
second chip technology would have changed considerably. Also the only way to
get dual Pentium is with the Neptune chipset, which is not as fast as the
Triton chipset. Might as well go as fast I can now and worry about the future
later.<g>
>>I'll be more than happy to keep you informed of how all this goes. It will be
long past Friday before I get my hands on it though.<<
Please keep me informed on how it goes. I will be out of town for two weeks
starting this Saturday though.
