Humm….unless I mis-read Bill's comments, his problem wasn't that the
connector itself was non-standard, but that the wire attached to it was not a
standard telco wire, and replacing with a std-telco wire fried T/S.
However, I also seem to remember that the keyboard cable also isn't a
std telco cable (wall to phone cable) but is a handset cable. My memory of the
difference between the 2 types of telco modular cables is that on the wall to
phone cable they are arranged like this:
end 1 end2
pin1………………….pin4
pin2………………….pin3
pin3………………….pin2
pin4………………….pin1
Whereas a handset cable goes like this:
end1 end2
pin1…………………..pin1
pin2…………………..pin2
pin3…………………..pin3
pin4…………………..pin4
That could certainly make a difference.
