You're right cost is an issue but I'm not sure it's that much difference. For both environments you need a C compiler. For windows you also have to get the SDK which is about $300. The SDK includes additional development tools and full documentation. For the Amiga, you have to buy the RKM's ($100, when they become available), join CATS developer program, ($75-100 a year) and do a lot more work or buy additional 3rd party tools like PowerWindows. That last comment is probably a little unfair as 2.0 features like GadTools do make the developer's life a LOT easier. I guess the bottom line is that I often feel as though I am developing in the dark on the Amiga. I try things to see what happens because I can't find the correct way documented anywhere. I for one would willingly pay $300 for an Amiga SDK, all the documentation and tools I need in one place.
