If Commodore has the guts to leap this platform in to the future by not limiting themselves to full backward compatability, I'll applaud the move. How many times have we read messages here scolding CBM's lack of advancement in the areas of sound and graphics? MANY! The fact is that the reason most of the personal computing world is saddled with the msdos albatross is that MicroSoft didn't have the guts five years ago to make that leap. If CBM wants to flourish in the future, then it has to look for and develop the new technologies that will once again make the Amiga the "wow!" machine it was when first introduced. Like many other Amiga users, I hope that a simple chip set upgrade will keep my machine state of the art… but I won't bitch at CBM because they finally have the foresight to move the technology forward. If I can afford it, I'll get the new machine. If I can't, I'll just hang on to what I've got until I can. CBM is to be applauded for the level of compatibility they have maintained throughout OS upgrades over the years. As I understand it, we even lost some of the features of 2.x just to make the OS functions more compatible with older software. Now it's time to move on. sorry… I needed to get that off my chest> Michael …..on AutoPilot
