Mike – If it is true that less than 1 out of 6 Amigas has a hard disk, then even I am shocked. As for your friend who is afraid of hard drives, well, there are people who are afraid of automobiles, and I know several people who are afraid of answering machines. Fortunately, I think they are all very atypical these days. You can't use a Mac or a Windos box without a hard disk. A PC or an Amiga without a hard disk is very limited. While some people might be able to get along without the HD, the vast majority want a hard disk. Also, the kinds of applications that people are demanding require large amounts of storage. In my opinion, a hard disk is virtually a necessity. Your friend's problems with his hard drives remind me of my own difficulties and another reason why I think that CBM should build in the necessities. That is the compatibility that comes from having a standard. If every machine had a CBM HD controller, then compatibility with software and other hardware would be much easier to achieve. This would ultimately make the machines easier to use and A BETTER VALUE! – Charles
