Hi. > THCNKS for the reply! To actually be in contact with the noted author of a real program is > truly an honour! ( Is that laying on thick enough? <grin> ) Didn't realize you were on here. Thank _you_! > Was that in your documentation? Yes, my CompuServe address is listed at the end of ace.doc along with my InterNet address, etc. > I assumed that my .BMAPs were no good > anymore. The 1.3 .bmaps _will_ work under 2.x/3.0 but you just won't have access to the newer functions. One thing you have to be careful of in ACE is that you supply the correct data types to a shared library function, eg. if the function requires a LONG integer, don't give it a SHORT integer, etc. ACE is just a bit fussier on this front. > 2. Otherwise, you can e-mail me the source code fragment and I'll try to figure it out for you. > 3. Also, is there some way to do a NON-buffered keyboard read? You may just have to filter out the unwanted stuff yourself via INKEY$. You can also change things like this via Prefs to some extent of course. > I am going to try and use one of those "voice recognition" libraries and > see how that works (not likely, but, why not) — if any FD's are included of course. 🙂 Good fun. I have used (and highly recommend) Richard Horne's voice.library from ACE. I wrote a tic-tac-toe program which accepted vocal grid positions. At one point I wrote some C interface stuff for Richard which appeared on a Fish disk awhile back. Mixed in with this is a .FD and a .BMAP for the library. This should help you. Let me know if you want this. > 4. I forget what the other thing I wanted to ask you was. Rats! I do remember trying a couple > of programs that ACE choked badly on though. And I thought it was a complete AB clone. Well, not a complete clone, no. Many AmigaBASIC programs WILL compile directly under ACE. Those that don't require reasonably minor changes. > 5. Oh, I think it might have been a request list item <g>. You should see my wish list. 🙂 > By the way, a very nice overall package. I'm impressed. And most thankful for the low price! Glad you like it. Thanks. I guess the price _is_ hard to argue with. 🙂 > With 3 underage school children, I
