Even your 8mm tape is really going to deteriorate after 5-7 years — it's just
the nature of the material. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to re-record
them every 4-5 years to be safe, and I believe it's recommended that you
retension them at least once a year. Another nice thing about CD-ROM — you
never have to rewind a CD!
