<<the fact that the Mitsumi drives have problems reading CD-R disks doesn't mean they are not able reading them at all. We discovered that the critical step is the mounting process of the disk. So if the Mitsumi drives reports 'no disk' or something like that, opening and closing the tray several times has proved to work. We have found that you need to close the drawer and wait for the light to blink on—then off. Then wait a moment and the disk may read OK. What is odd, however, is that there definitely are certain disks that the Mitsumi drives will never, ever read. There are disks that all of the drives read. And there are particular disks that read on dome drives. So, this would point to the fact that there is some difference about the burned media, and not just the drives being random in nature.
