We're getting ready to install a network in our multimedia production company. I can't figure out which is the better choice; Lantastic or WFWs. I 've been told there's a driver in/with/for? WFWs that facilitates network operations on machines running DOS only – like when running 3DS… but I've also read in an admittedly dated text that says this driver sets up a machine to act as a client, only. If true, does that mean we couldn't use it for 3DS net renderring? What do we really want to do? Mostly, we need to have finished assets available to both artists and programmers, without having to duplicate files. If that means putting up a network, we might as well make use of the network renderring features offered in 3DS. Problem: the programmers work primarily in Windows. Add to the mix, a near term need to hook up a MAC.
