Nick, I don't have the documentation on MusicX either, so this may be a strange way of doing it or have some extra steps, but: 1) Reset yourself back to zero time and otherwise set up whatever parameters you want/need. Click record and let the requester come up. DON'T click the go gadget; instead, hit a key on the keyboard… if things start up, you know your MIDI inputs are correct and everything's running. Play around on the keys until you have enough to tinker with, then punch the stop gadget. 2) Now here's the tricky part, I think. It appears that MusicX records into a temporary holding buffer which has to be transferred into an actual track. To do so, click a track so that it highlights, then click the gadget which relates to this (I forget the label; it may be save. It's in the group almost in the middle, to the right/below the transport controls. There's also a discard/erase/delete in the group.) Sometimes it seemed like I had to rock back and forth between the track gadget and the move/save/copy so obviously I'm not hitting the sequence exactly. But once you get it moved over, you will hear it on playback. This might at least let you hear some sounds ASAP. How about someone with REAL knowledge filling us both in as to the appropriate procedure? Rick
