Ariel, Good point! In fact, for those programmers, the idea of having to ask the "operating system" for memory before they could use it was foreign to a lot of them. What? It's there, why can't I just use it? Sometimes, its difficult for us to keep these factors in perspective – what's old-hat to some of us is quite new and foreign to others.
