Victor,
I know exactly what you mean, and that's why I say that the problem is
not brand loyalty, but the brand itself. CBM is the '62 Mets of the
computer world – they seem to find new ways to make mistakes.
I hope that you can get your hands on an Amiga pretty soon, but it
sounds like you have your hands full right now. However, once the new
arrival arrives, you can always pitch an Amiga as something to put the
finishing touches on your home video of Junior…it seems that this is how
the Amiga ends up in the corporate world, too. My machine at work is an
Amiga, but it was cost-justified on its "niche" abilities. However, it
doesn't stop me from making other users envious of my graphic
word-processor, multi-tasking, and other other niceties that PC users
really want. Of course, my boss doesn't complain about the lower software
bills, either…
Thanks for the reply. I hope that some of the rabid and semi-rabid
replies to you initial query have shed some light on the Amiga. I also
hope that it doesn't fall under the "orphan" heading in you article.
Good luck with the article,
Jonathan
