If you really believe that the AMiga is standing still, go to your dealer
and sit in front of a 3000 and play with 2.0. 2.0 is great. And it is not
a kludge, like Windows. It doesn't require the steep overhead that Windows
does (Windows is absolutley useless, IMHO, on anything less than a 386/25
with at least 6 meg of ram). AmigaDos in a 2 meg machine is actually
productive and quite slick. If your computer needs are application
oriented, then maybe MSDOS is the direction you should go. After all, THAT
is what should drive all computer purchases… the software, no the
hardware.
No one has ever said that the Amiga was designed or marketed to replace the
PC's out there. The Amiga does some specific things extremely well. If
you don't happen to use or need those features then don't use the machine.
But don't blame a pair of pliers for not being a screwdriver, or the
manufacturer for for having the audacity to make different tools.
If you choose the right tool for the job, you'll be a lot happier humanoid.
