True, the Amiga IS better because of it's mutitasking abilities, but the software you propose for people to use as separate, but ARexx-able, programs would cost more than the machine in many cases. Using separate (and more powerful) applications is fine if you're wealthy and don't care how much it costs to get the job done. But if you haven't noticed yet, there is a large group of computer buyers that are hard pressed to come up with the cash for a basic computer system (like me – I bought an A500 via mail order (best price) but didn't have the money for a good monitor, so I'm using an old Apple II composite color monitor) and if they don't have the funds for a better computer, how are they going to buy these separate high priced software packages? Since I have four kids and a wife to support I don't have much money to plunk down on heavy duty software. Let's take a look at a 'real world' situation here. As in my case, I could barely afford to by my A500. I haven't even paid for my used monitor yet, and still I need some basic (WP, SS, and DB) software to make my computer even worth buying …. so I look in the pages of Amiga World and cruise through the ads I see there. Based on the claims stated those advertisements I decide that the titles shown above are good basic packages that will do what I want done without lots of wasted bells and whistles. So I decide to go with Amiga-Man's offerings on Final Copy, and Maxi-Plan 2.0, and I'll get SuperBase Personal 2 from Creative Computers, and of course I need [ MORE ]
