Bob: I agree with both you and Marc. There are very good arguments for both sides of this discussion. For the "power user", there is no better way to get work done than with several powerful programs multitasking together. Add ARexx and you are the envy of "power users" everywhere. This is the way that I like to work. On the other hand, Marc makes a valid point that there is no decent productivity solution for the brand-new Amiga owner. Having worked in both the MS-DOS and Mac markets, I've seen just how easy it is to sell a "Works" package to first-time clients. I've also seen people buy systems on the spot after seeing a "Works" demo. Why? Because they were able to visualize the computer being demonstrated as a useful tool that will make their everyday lives easier. I think Amiga dealers could actually sell more systems if they had a "Works" that compared favorably to similar MS-DOS and Mac products. I know I could. IMHO, the existing "Works" packages for the Amiga do _not_ compare favorably to the likes offered by Microsloth and others for the Windows and Mac environments. A "Works" package isn't the end-all, beat-all productivity solution. It is a solution for the beginner. Most people who start with a "Works" will eventually graduate to more powerful software as his/her needs and wants increase. I think the Amiga market needs more development of both entry-level and professional productivity software. I also think that it has needed it for a long time! Wayne
