Thanks for the reply! Sometimes I see .GIFS with huge file sizes. These are apparently VGA/SuperVGA-to-GIF renderings. When I do an image scan on a frame grabber, I get a half-meg RAW file, which compresses down to about 300k. By the time I've converted down to GIF via IFF, I'm down to about 70k. I realize there are some inherent diminishing returns here – absolute limits imposed by the code. If you wanted to convert your Amiga-generated scan to a GIF whose image was as close to, let's say, HAM qaulity, what would you use?
