Ken,
Some criteria you might look at are:
1. Course outline
2. Years and level taught taught
3. Field-based experience
4. Knowledge
a. accessment will be key — just remember that teachers wear many
hats and not many have the time or energy left to learn all the new
tricks. So if accessment comes to be take this into consideration
and possible create multiple levels of certification.
5. Rewards
a. What benefit(s) are associated with becoming certified?
This has an obvious effect on those desiring to become certified. If
it can be linked to in-service type training requirments or something similar
that "certified" teachers are not required "by their state and local boards" to
attend I would feel this would be a good promotional item. Just how you would
go about doing it I do not know — however I think I can get this done for you
in the state of Kentucky. Just let me know…
