Thanks for the fax number! I respect your right to "never say never." But could you come up with an analogy that works? Auto designers didn't create the need for fuel — physics did — they just choose gas as the fuel. Dongles are an entirely artificial constraint and software could easily be designed without it (in fact, it takes extra work and expense to design with it!).
