Your analogy is off. Suppose you rent it to me, then give me a dongle
that goes in the cassette tape slot in addition to the key so that I can't
play my tapes which your ad led me to believe was included in the rental?
That is a more realistic analogy. You would be taking my monye after
advertising a rental with tape player not mentioning the other security
device that prevenbts its use.
