My biggest worry re dongles is that the dongle will die and then for some reason (e.g., the company has gone belly up) you can't get a new one, so your software is dead. I didn't say I liked dongles, only that I understand why they exist. And in a couple of rare cases, I've liked the software well enough to take such risks. I love the elegance of the Autopilot shareware registration scheme. It's shareware. You can use it without registering but to be ethical (and to get full use of its features) you must register by mail. The Autopilot people then send you a binary E-mail message. When you download that message using the unregistered version of Autopilot, it automatically converts Autopilot and inserts your registration number. This could easily be applied to commercial software. — Ron Legro, Milwaukee via AUTOPILOT (the only way to fly)
