The 1993 DevCon notes contain information on card.resource, a standard
Amiga resource with functions to parse tuples, get memory areas to access,
set interupt handlers for I/O status changes/Card Insterted/CardRemoved,
and etc.. "Card Services" is an IBM PC-clone-centric standard and was
not, as I recall, fully specified before the release of the A600 (and
maybe not the A1200).
