Gary,
I have done similar work for trade shows and this is the steps that I use for
"good" quality blow-ups.
I render the image in the proper aspect ratio @300 DPI
I then added any text required in P-Shop
Sent the image to a film recorder House ( I used TX Unlimited in SFO )
They provided the 8×10 Neg that the lab then put on a foam core board.
My poster size was 6 feet x 7 feet, and it cost me about 4 grand per poster
The resolution was fine for trade shows since most people don't get right
on top of the posters.
