Sam,
I have both the 9gig A/V & the 9gig non A/V models of Micropolis drives
both work, as far as I can see, about the same. I can record HQ5 on both
drives. I have never been able to play back an edited sequence without
stuttering although each individual clip will play without the stuttering. I
have also noticed that when the stuttering does occur it is usually from clips
that are stored on my non A/V drive, which is not what I would have expected.
I had a seagate 4gig drive that went south on me and the dealer allowed me to
pay the difference between the price of the two drives to get the 9gig non A/V
instead. I have every hope that 4.05 will fix any stuttering problems I have.
Don't buy the BS that Micropolis never heard of NewTek, back in January
one of Micropolis' tech support managers (I don't recall the name now) advised
me to buy the Micropolis drive, gave me a dealers name and garanteed me that if
my A/V drive did not work with the Flyer, he would exchange them until we found
one that worked. Naturally, the first one worked. If you're not having a
problem with your drive, why trade it in? Chuck has stated that NewTek thinks
that 4.05 will solve our stuttering problems I intend on waiting for that to
see if the stuttering is eliminated.
