Douglas, <<So why due I like LW, because A-desk sat on its butt for years raking in $$ without porting 3DS from dos until competition came along, I wanted to join the competition.>> Autodesk has *not* "sat on its butt for years." (Especially since 3D Studio accounts for fully *half* of all installed 3D graphics/animation seats in the world, according to several market research firms. This includes Alias and Softimage.) 3D Studio MAX has been under development for *three* years. Gary Yost and Autodesk began having discussions about the future (non-DOS) direction of 3DS starting in April of 1992. They've been coding for almost two years. 3D Studio MAX isn't a port of the existing DOS version to Windows NT; it was written from the ground-up as a full 32-bit Windows NT application, and that takes time to do it right. But from what I've seen, it's worth it. It's a workstation-quality 3D program for PCs. — Jon (P.S. I apologize for posting this message in a NewTek forum, and I'd like to point out that, although I don't use Lightwave, I'm very impressed with the work I've seen produced with it. So don't flame me, okay?)
