Head Modeling?

I really enjoyed your presentation in UCLA a couple of weeks ago. You mentioned
you modeled several heads from photos including Hitler and others using
"SurfRev" in 3d Studio.
Would you explain briefly how this was done. I've seen a tutorial lofting head
shapes (slices) in one of the books but was curious how you used "SurfRev" or
was I mistaken?
