QB'ing to Bernoulli

I've just added a brand new Bernoulli removable hard drive to my A3000, and am experiencing problems with Quarterback 4.1. I've partitioned one cartridge in 4 logical drives, to mirror my main hard disk's 4 partitions. My goal is to backup each partition to a sister partition on the cartridge. However, when I try to backup Files: to Bak-F:, QB quickly zips to "file 4 of 298", the screen flashes, then QB shows "file 6 of 298" and the disk status window at the bottom left shows "BAK-F status not ready", "Please load disk 1", and the "Change Volume" button. If I click on the button, the backup proceeds normally, but attempting to restore brings up a garbles file list in QB. What's wrong? (In addition, now my main hard disk's access light flashes every 3 seconds, regardless whether there's a Bernoulli cart in the removable drive or not. Can I stop this?) Blaq!
