QB'ing to Bernoulli

I've just added a brand new Bernoulli removable hard drive to my A3000, and am
experiencing problems with Quarterback 4.1. I've partitioned one cartridge in 4
logical drives, to mirror my main hard disk's 4 partitions. My goal is to
backup each partition to a sister partition on the cartridge. However, when I
try to backup Files: to Bak-F:, QB quickly zips to "file 4 of 298", the screen
flashes, then QB shows "file 6 of 298" and the disk status window at the bottom
left shows "BAK-F status not ready", "Please load disk 1", and the "Change
Volume" button. If I click on the button, the backup proceeds normally, but
attempting to restore brings up a garbles file list in QB. What's wrong?
(In addition, now my main hard disk's access light flashes every 3 seconds,
regardless whether there's a Bernoulli cart in the removable drive or not. Can
I stop this?)

While the scheme that you are using will not be necessary with the new 6.0
version it should work fine with the version of Quarterback that you are using.
The main thing that you need to check is that the partition size is adaquate to
hold the whole partition as well as two copies of the catalog. It sounds like
when you acknowlege the request to insert volume "BAK-F:" you are overwriting
the first backup disk with a second disk.
With Quarterback 6.0 you would format your bernoulli cartridge as a single
partition and do your backups to files on that partition.
The drive flashing appears to be a result of the program polling the drive to
determine its state.
