It's been awhile since I've played, but I think I can answer your
questions. Yes, Archers and Paladins can only learn up to Level 7 spells.
Yes, hunger can adversely effect your gaining stats. And yes, you can only
raise stats to 100 at the circus. If they appear to then drop, it's
because youh'd already raised the stats by using a particular weapon or
object. When you switch weapons or whatever you lose their additional
help. Since the circus will only allow you 100, it's best to go there
without much magical baggage to ensure you get the best stats possible.
After that your magical items can increase stats beyond 100.
