Yes we used ShaBLAMM at SIGGRAPH running Real 3D NT. It worked quite
well and appears to be an interesting option for MIPS based NT
systems. The card (with various configs) plugs into a VESA slot on a
486 pc – you need the right clock speed on the motherboard to match
the config on the card- and you also need to have a graphics card
that has an NT driver, and you end up with a NT computer at a very
reasonable cost. 486 33MHz with HD etc plus ShaBLAMM say around
$4000 … not bad.
We also had an 275MHz ALPHA NT machine that was really moving.
Standard config, 500 MB drive, 32 MB ram, cdrom, ethernet and scsii
on board, list about $10,000. Seemed to be about 2-3x R4600 150
MHz.
The NT hardware situation is changing real fast…. should be
interesting.
