Well I am happy that one of the tech guys 'connected' with you. I
assure you that I am not the 'bad guy' of all marketeers and we
certainly did not alienate 'all the people' at NAB '93. We demoed
the program there for anyone to see.
With any program, Wayne, the first release is going to be the roughest
– it doesn't matter which software company. But ours was certainly
not 'alpha' (the alpha version was shown at SIGGRAPH '92). Naturally
you have the right to your own opinion. In terms of 'making it
right', since then we have had numerous updates and an upgrade to
V2.4. Also third parties have produced tutorial tapes etc.
As advertized, the program does have a very powerful and extensive
tool set. A high degree of user configurabilty and 'control' means
there is more to learn – and this may not be everyone's 'cup of tea',
but it is there for people who want access to tools that they can't
normally get on desktop platforms. Your quite right, the 'complexity'
is intimidating to some but exhilarating to others.
Its unfortunate that not too many Real 3D users seem to hang out in
this conference. Some, I am sure, could excite you with what they are
capable of doing. Anyway, its been interesting…
Best regards
Adam Godfrey
