Hi, I have a couple of 'stupid' questions of the gods. One technical, another philosophical 1. I need to put into a model a fairly complex roof lots of faces , lots of intersections All I have is Elevations to work from (no plan) I have the building in though…(dxf available) being a newbie…where do I start? I can't just draw a line in 3d editor for the eaves and build from there I can't work in the 2d shaper for the ridges (probably part of my problems is being so damm autocad literate) Please … can you give me a quick suggestion on how to proceed you don't need to give me all the answers (I'll sweat those) but just point me down the correct road. I could do this in autocad and dxf it …but I figured this would be a good way to learn all my editing options. second question How neat do you create your model? By this I mean, where two faces meet…is there a common segment? In my case I am wondering about the roof. Do I need to create a valley or can I just let one plane clip the other (by letting it run a little wild) ? For a non architectural example you need to put an arrow thru someone's head…but it's one of those fake arrows ..two piece with a clip. do you a. locate a shaft thru his head and ignor the entry exit points b. build two pieces and carefully graft them to each side..creating common intersecting segments as needed? by being neat do you really same much rendering time? are there advantages to being neat vs slapping it together? will your ass get bit by bad modeling practices? Thanks again ahead of time for educating me. Todd
