Dave, I can confirm that 3.1 will work on previously soft kicked 3000, it does on mine, Setpatch and all. However, some "non standard" batmem settings that worked under 2.x will give 3.1 real grief. Having SCSI set to synchronous xfer will normally cause a complete boot failure, for example. The mother board on my 3000 is identical to yours, complete with empty ROM socket positions. The ROM 0 & ROM 1 legends are reversed on my board, the socket numbers are as per the intallation docs tho`. I can`t see your machine booting at all if you did have ROMs reversed. It almost sounds like setpatch is trying to patch where your ROMs aint, if that is at all posible. The only problem I have with 3.1 is, that when moving larger icons around the WB screen, the icon will flicker or disapear until the pointer stops moving. This only occurs while running the ROM image from RAM (i.e cpu fastrom). Robert.
