you cannot read between the lines.
The test was performaed on a p90 with a 16bit version of Photoshop and a 16 bit
version of
windows.
Bruce wrote the article and I have talked with him extensively in the adobe
forum about it.
Even he admits, along with Publish Mag, Imaging Mag, and Adobe themselves,
that when you run Photoshop 3.0 NT on NT, you get a 50% speed increase
automatically,
and the pentium smokes the 8100.
It was not a fair test to compare the others running on a 32bit ver, with a
32bit OS.
Why don't you try to run it on Photoshop NT and see the difference. I have.
I have the authors testing methods which were sent to me by him and some of
what I can see
is that NT makes a world of difference. Try IT, you will see!!!!!!!!!!!
Also you took my comment about the porsche's out of context.
I was not trying to say it was a big deal I have them, I was trying to make
the point
that too many people make coments about things they do NOT Have, OWN, or RUN.
He was making an analogy to a car which he probably does not own, to a
dual pentium he does not own. Since I have both, I was making the statement
that I am
most likely in a better position to judge. THAT IS ALL.
Hardware is my expert field, so al that I ask is that people are entitled to
their own opinion,
but they should not give advice to people to go out and buy or use a piece of
hardware,
for reasons that are simply untrue and incorrect factually.
The Mac article is a classic example, to any layman, it appears the 8100 and
the others are faster,
but if you know where the huge flaws are in the test, anyone should see that
the pentium was given mediocre hardware, a 16bit os and app.
I am 100% sure that the pentium90 and 100's I build, or even many on the
market,
like the Micron, and the Alr, or Zeos, comboned with NT photoshop and NT 3.5
Daytona,
will burn jsut about anything short of the alpha with native software.
I am not asking you to believe me , TRY IT FOR YOUSELF and see.
