Yep, if you mainly print text, you'll be better of setting the driver to Epson emulation. Well, I don't think users can complain about this behaviour as other printers only offer one similar emulation. But as said, most applications are now able to print text in the printers graphic mode. In this case, you are far better off with Extended Emulation. Final Writer, Final Copy, Wordworth…. they all mainly rely on printing their text in graphic mode and that's what makes the Extended Emulation so nice to use.
