Just to add my two cents to this plug-in discussion…
I understand your sentiments and believe that there is a good market for for
powerful, unviversal tools. It would certainly be interesting to see an
"Optics Lab" or "Particle GOD" plug-in but let's not let our enthusiasm for
the super plug-ins blind us to the value of the single function plug-ins.
I for one am some one who likes to buy my tools one at a time. Whether its
wood working, art supplies, or software I look for an efficient, elegant, and
well crafted tool that does the job exceptionally well.
Its the difference between using a fine Japanese dovetailing saw versus using
the Sears multi-template router jig. I have both and I would sorely miss
either one if they weren't available.
So my feeling is that we need all the plug-ins we can get. Bring on the
super-universal plug-in application suites but let's also support those
single function plug-ins that just might just do one small thing better than
the others. I want both.
