Mark, I use MeshPaint in conjunction with Photoshop. I am accoustomed to a robust set of tools when I paint texture maps – and Photoshop works wonders. HOWEVER – while I'm painting, I have no real reference on my map for where I'm painting on my geometry. This is where MP comes in. It has this really cool new feature that will paint along all the polygon lines of your model. What this gives you is a PERFECT guide, to where you are on your 3D model, when you paint in Photoshop, Fractal Design Painter, or whatever. I usually use this 'polygon map' in a channel in photoshop – so I always have the reference handy. Meshpaint has some different painting tools, but it's really no match for Photoshop. And on the flipside; Photoshop doesn't read .3DS files! <g> When it comes to shortening creation time – I can put it this way. It's like having an accurate roadmap in a matter of seconds, or driving around all day, with a pencil and paper, figuring it out for yourself. -Kyle
